Elmira Maple Syrup Festival 2015
On Saturday I was invited to take an adventure to the Elmira Maple Sugar Festival 2015! I felt it would be a fun adventure to get out of the house and see what the day would bring. It was a perfect day for a drive in the country with a friend. It was extremely cold, however with clear blue skies and so sunny it was a great day.
As we were getting closer to the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival there were some nice farms.
I had never been to the Maple Syrup Festival and wasn’t sure what we would see, or do? The first challenge we had was actually getting into Elmira. The traffic was stop and go for quite a distance. It didn’t really bother me and my friend because we were just chatting and enjoying the drive. It did take us quite a bit longer than we thought to get there though.
The street was jammed packed with people, bundled up and trying to stay as warm as possible. The maple syrup was available everywhere and many stopped at the side of the road to buy it.
Many of the vendors located by the side of the road on our way to the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival still use horse and buggy as their mode of transportation and here were a couple of beauties just waiting for the return trip home.
We choose to go into the arts and crafts exhibition. I will tell you there were so many beautiful quilts. This is one of the quilts that definitely caught my eye.
Here are a group of women working on a quilt. Almost a lost art.
All in all it was a nice day! It was nice to get out of the city, out in the fresh air. We picked up our maple syrup, enjoyed the casual stroll down main street and saw some local art. Not sure if the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival would be an event I would attend every year, though I did have a great day!
