Over the years of loud hotels, banging doors and crazy people when have found some useful tools to sleep better when in a hotel, resort or holiday apartment.

Sleep Better Tip #1

Use ear plugs. When this was first suggested to me by a friend, I thought it was a crazy idea. I had never once thought of ear plugs as a tool to sleep better. Works like a charm. We have found that the silicone ear plugs are the best to help you sleep better. No question. These are the ones I have been using now for over 3 years and I have slept better when I am away than I have in years.

The ear plugs are comfortable, easy to put in my ears, and they don’t fall out during the night.

Sleep Better Tip #2

Make the room as dark as possible and wear a sleep mask. I know you might feel a little silly when you first begin to wear a mask to help you sleep better however it will be worth it. In our world today we are never really in darkness and our bodies need that to get a great sleep and the mask will help achieve that.

I use a silk mask and it is very comfortable. It doesn’t bother me during the night at all. I have tried other materials and the silk is the best for me. In fact, it has truly changed my sleep during the night.

Sleep Better Tip #3

Eliminate stimulants, coffee, tea, sweets, for example. If you must have stimulants it is best to stop at lunch time and definitely not have coffee or sugar in the evening. I know this can be a challenge since you are away on holidays. So it is about finding a balance when you are away. What is the best plan for you to enjoy your time away and to sleep better?

I have found that by using these 3 sleep better tips, my sleeping has dramatically improved while travelling. And by getting good nights rest it makes the days far more enjoyable and the holiday that much better.

Bonus Sleep Better Tip

Throw a roll of black electrical tape into your suitcase and us it to cover the annoying little lights in the room. For example, we use the electrical tape to cover the light on the TV. If you wake up in the middle of the night that red light can make it a challenge to go back to sleep.
